Symptoms of pharyngitis in dogs:

1. Acute throat inflammation. Symptoms include listlessness, salivation, anorexia, difficulty swallowing and breathing, retching, and elevated body temperature. Open inspection reveals bilateral or unilateral tonsils that are flushed, edematous, and covered with mucus or pus.

2. Chronic throat inflammation. It is mostly transformed from acute inflammation and manifests as cough, vomiting, reflux and rhinorrhea.

Preventive measures for dog laryngitis:

1. To eliminate inflammation, penicillin 40,000 to 80,000 IU/kg can be injected intramuscularly, 2-3 times a day. Topically apply iodine glycerin.

2. Wash the pharyngeal cavity with saline, 2% sodium bicarbonate solution, 2% boric acid solution, and 0.8% sodium sulfonate acetamide solution, 3-4 times a day.

3. Patients with severe inflammation and difficulty swallowing can be fed soft food and liquid food, or intravenous infusion to supplement nutrition.

4. In the early stage of acute throat inflammation, you can apply a cold compress on the neck and give the dog a cough medicine to effectively relieve cough and eliminate throat inflammation.

5. For recurrent throat inflammation, surgical removal of the dog’s glands may be considered during the remission period.
