Symptoms of pharyngeal paralysis in dogs:

Pharyngeal paralysis refers to the loss of the ability to swallow. Sick dogs show sudden loss of swallowing ability, food, drinking water and saliva flow out of the mouth and nose. There is no swelling or pain reaction in the pharynx, and the swallowing reflex disappears. Sick dogs often die of aspiration pneumonia due to accidental swallowing, or die of exhaustion due to long-term inability to eat. Central pharyngeal paralysis is mostly caused by encephalopathy, but can also be seen in rabies and botulism. Peripheral pharyngeal paralysis is less common and is caused by damage to the swallowing nerve.

Treatment methods for pharyngeal paralysis in dogs:

1. There is currently no good treatment for central pharyngeal paralysis.

2. If there is peripheral nerve damage or inflammation, electroacupuncture therapy can be used to improve the local peripheral nerve excitement state, which has certain therapeutic possibilities.

3. No matter what kind of pharyngeal paralysis, the dog can only sustain life by giving food and water through a gastric tube.
