How often should you change the water when raising a turtle?
When raising turtles, the water is generally changed every 3 to 5 days. The specifics should be determined based on environmental changes and the degree of water pollution. In summer, the temperature is higher and the water quality pollutes faster, so it can be changed once a day. When the temperature turns cooler in spring and autumn and the water temperature is lower than 20°C, the frequency of water changes can be reduced. Don’t change too much water each time, just enough to exceed the turtle’s limbs.
Things to note when changing water for turtles
1. Frequency: As the seasons change, the frequency of water changes varies. If it's summer, change it every day. If you hibernate in shallow water in winter, you can change the water every seven days.
2. Water quantity: Do not change too little water when raising turtles. Even for a large tank, at least half of the water must be replaced. If the tank is relatively small, then all the water must be changed every time.
3. Temperature: It is best to keep the temperature consistent before and after changing the water. Because turtles are cold-blooded animals, temperature changes are detrimental to their health.
4. Water quality: The water must have been exposed to the sun. There are a lot of gases in tap water. Turtles will get sick if they live directly in such water quality.
