Big-headed turtles are not afraid of cold. When the ambient temperature is about 10℃, big-headed turtles enter hibernation. When the ambient temperature is about 0℃, they can still hibernate normally. In order to ensure the physical consumption of the turtle during hibernation, the turtle needs to be fed more in late autumn, mainly fish and shrimp, supplemented by vegetables. The food must be fresh.

Precautions for hibernating big-headed turtles

1. Before hibernation: Mix antibiotics in the bait before hibernation to enhance the turtle's disease resistance during the winter. , when the water temperature approaches 14°C, the pool should be thoroughly cleaned and the turtle body should be comprehensively inspected, including skin, head, feces, parasites, etc.

2. During hibernation: There is no need to change the water during hibernation, and absolutely do not feed when the temperature occasionally rises to prevent indigestion, gastrointestinal diseases and other problems caused by the night cooling. When the temperature drops below 0℃, it is necessary to add food. Cover with film or take other insulation and antifreeze measures.

3. After hibernation: Do not rush to feed after hibernation. Feeding can only be done when the temperature is stable and the temperature difference between day and night does not exceed 6℃. The reason is that premature feeding when the temperature difference between day and night is large can easily induce indigestion and gastrointestinal diseases. If there are other problems, the pool should be cleaned and disinfected before feeding for the first time.
