Compared with some other tortoise species, the Pinta Island Galapagos giant tortoise has a very long lifespan. When the surrounding environment is relatively comfortable, the life span of Pinta Island Galapagos tortoises can reach more than 100 years, and some even live as long as 175 years. If the environment is harsh and the pollution is very serious, it may affect the size of the Galapagos tortoises on Pinta Island and may even endanger their lives.

How to raise Pinta Island Galapagos tortoises:

1. Food. The food types of tortoises should be as diverse as possible. Their food should be mainly plants with high fiber, high calcium, low phosphorus, low protein and low water content. Add calcium powder, multivitamins and various minerals to your food every week. When feeding some vegetables to the tortoise, soak them in clean water for about 20 minutes to reduce the harm of pesticides, and then dry them before feeding them to the tortoise.

2. Take a bath. The water temperature for bathing elephant turtles should be 30-33 degrees, and each bath should not be less than 20 minutes.

3. Let the tortoise receive more natural sunlight for 1-2 hours, which will help form a healthy tortoise shell and prevent it from cracking for no reason. You can let them chew cuttlefish bones, which can be a good source of calcium for the tortoises.
