Preparation before dog neutering

1. The best time for neutering. Dogs of different sizes have different development speeds, so the time for neutering will also vary. Differently, you have to wait until the dog is fully developed and sexually mature before neutering. It is generally recommended that dogs be sterilized at 9 to 10 months.

2. Prepare hospital supplies, small blankets and small cushions. Living in a cage is more comfortable and warm. You can eat dog food, snacks, canned dog food, goat milk, and bring a few changing pads.

3. The dog is deprived of water and food before the operation. Under anesthesia, the dog cannot swallow and is prone to vomiting. If there is food in the dog’s stomach, it can easily lead to suffocation. To ensure the dog's safety, the dog must fast for eight hours and water for four hours before surgery.

Precautions after sterilization of dogs

1. After sterilization, the dog must wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent the dog from licking the wound and causing secondary wounds. Bacterial infection causes inflammation and suppuration.

2. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs need to be sprayed on the wound regularly. At the same time, it is necessary to provide the dog with nutritious food, improve the body's resistance, and take measures to keep warm.

3. Don’t rush to let it eat after surgery. Gastrointestinal motility is slow after anesthesia, and symptoms of gastroenteritis may occur if you rush to eat. Generally, you can eat a small amount of food 3 hours after the operation. Do not feed too much at once. Feed water normally. 4. After the dog sterilization surgery, you need to pay attention to restricting the dog from extensive exercise to prevent the dog from tearing the wound due to extensive exercise.
