Causes of canine dermatitis:

There are many causes of canine dermatitis. It can be roughly divided into: mechanical, chemical, fungal, parasitic, allergic and other factors.

1. Mechanical: Traumatic dermatitis, burns, frostbite, radiation damage, etc. caused by abrasions, autologous contusions, and scratching.

2. Chemical properties: long-term irritation from chemical bathing agents, irritating drugs, and purulent secretions.

3. Fungi: Microsporum, Microsporum gypseum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

4. Parasitic mites: such as Demodex, scabies, cicadas, lice, fleas, schistosomiasis, hookworms, etc.

5. Food allergies and drug allergies can lead to dermatitis.

Symptoms of dog dermatitis:

1. The dog’s skin appears flaky, stripy or irregularly red and swollen, covered with scabs. When the skin has When injured, erosion or ulcers may appear, and there may be local pain and itching.

2. When the skin is covered by a large amount of inflammatory exudate, the skin coat may fall off, the skin may become thickened, and the skin may become chapped.

3. When suffering from fungal dermatitis, the affected area will be hairless, with white powdery scabs locally, and red protrusions under and around the scabs.

4. When suffering from parasitic dermatitis, red rash-like nodules can be seen on the head, back, and abdomen, with yellow scabs on the surface, hair loss, and severe itching.

Prevention and treatment measures for dog dermatitis:

1. Desensitization and anti-itching: oral or intramuscular injection of corticosteroids, prednisone 1 mg/kg body weight, dexamethasone Measone 0.15-0.25 mg/kg body weight.

2. Apply sulfonamide ointment locally.

3. Chronic dermatitis can be applied with triamcinolone acetate ointment or hydrogen acetate ointment.

4. Fungal dermatitis can be applied with clotrimazole ointment, ringworm ointment or daxonine ointment.

5. For dermatitis with bacterial infection, systemic antibiotic therapy can be applied, and penicillin or gentamicin can be injected intramuscularly, twice a day.
