Cockatiels can heal themselves from diarrhea. Diarrhea in cockatiels is usually caused by eating unclean food. When the symptoms are not very serious, most of them can be cured on their own as long as the owner handles them properly. However, the owner must pay attention to observation. Once any adverse symptoms are discovered, the cockatiel must be treated immediately. In severe cases, the cockatiel may suffer from diarrhea and death.

What to do if a cockatiel has diarrhea

1. First, stop feeding the cockatiel. Continuing to eat may increase the gastrointestinal burden of the cockatiel.

2. Cockatiels can be treated with penicillin, chloramphenicol, and tetracycline antibiotics.

3. For cockatiels infected with diseases in large areas, 0.4g of chlortetracycline or oxytetracycline can be added to each kg of feed and fed continuously for about a week.

4. Change the cockatiel to clean food and water to prevent reinfection.
