Symptoms of dog labor: Abnormal behavior

Female dogs before giving birth will have abnormal behaviors. For example: loss of appetite, restlessness, asthma, rapid breathing, looking for a hidden place to give birth, some female dogs have nest-building behavior, and small dogs raised indoors often surround their family members for help.
1. Abnormal meals. The most obvious thing is that the female dog started not to eat. She was eating well, but suddenly she started not to eat.
2. Start defecation. Before giving birth, a female dog will actively start to defecate, even soft and loose stools. This means that the dog is cleaning its rectum, allowing the rectum to be drained clean, which is conducive to the birth of the dog.
3. Grip the ground. Female dogs will scratch the floor before giving birth. This is the dog's nature.
4. Frequently enter the delivery room. Most dogs frequently enter and leave the predetermined delivery room starting from 12 hours before delivery, and the time in the delivery room is long, and the number of outings gradually decreases.
5. Low-pitched moans and screams. One hour before delivery (2-3 hours before delivery for a few dogs), the female dog will often use her forelimbs to pick up the bedding, grab the towels, rags, etc. in the delivery room, bite them off and tear them into pieces with her mouth, and make a low moan or scream.

Symptoms of dog labor: changes in body temperature

Once a female dog is preparing to give birth, in addition to abnormal behavior, her body temperature will also drop. Before giving birth, the normal body temperature of dogs will drop significantly from 38.3°C to 36.5-37.2°C.
According to actual measurement results, it is known that the body temperature of most female dogs is 36.4-37.2°C (the lowest body temperature) 9 hours before the first fetus is delivered, which is 1 degree lower than the physiological body temperature. Therefore, the accurate time of delivery can be predicted based on the obvious body temperature changes in dogs at the end of pregnancy.

Symptoms of dog birth: changes in physical signs

1. There will be many physical changes in dogs when they give birth. The breasts will enlarge significantly and sometimes milk will be secreted.
2. Mucus-like fluid will be left in the vagina of a dog during labor, which is used to prepare for the birth of the baby.
