A cat’s stress reaction may not necessarily lead to abdominal transmission. Transmission is caused by the cat being infected with the coronavirus and has nothing to do with the stress response, so the stress reaction will not cause the cat’s abdominal transmission. Cats' stress response will cause symptoms such as not eating or drinking, vomiting and diarrhea, which will usually recover on their own in two to three days. However, cats with abdominal symptoms will have low fever, messy hair, anemia, bloated belly, eye inflammation, poor energy, and loss of appetite. The symptoms are generally difficult to cure, and the mortality rate is as high as 95%.
