The kitten is afraid of thunder. Kittens are timid by nature, and the sound of thunder is very loud, and kittens’ ears are particularly sensitive, which can easily frighten kittens, causing them to feel restless and even tremble. If you encounter thundery weather, it is recommended to place the cat's nest in a quiet environment, and appropriately comfort the kitten when it panics to give it a sense of security.

How to deal with kittens who are afraid of thunder:

1. Escape. By taking the cat to a part of the house, such as a finished basement, that is relatively soundproof and light-proof, the problem can be avoided or at least mitigated.

2. Distract attention. Cats can be trained to respond to some sound cues with food. To avoid this poor appetite, arrange for the cat to be hungry before the storm arrives.

3. Desensitization. In this method, cats are exposed to increasing amounts of pre-recorded storm sounds.

4. Pharmacological treatment. Medications used to reduce fear in cats include: clomipramine, fluoxetine, buspirone, and propranolol. Melatonin is an over-the-counter hormonal therapy that has also been used to treat phobias in dogs.
