What is scabies? How to treat scabies
Scabies
Canine scabies is a serious itchy skin disease. The development of scabies mites goes through four stages: eggs, larvae, larvae and adults. The entire development process is spent on the dog and is usually completed within 2 to 3 weeks. Scabies mites dig tunnels in the epidermis of the skin, and females lay eggs in the tunnels. Each female can lay 20 to 50 eggs in her lifetime. The eggs hatch into larvae, which have three pairs of legs and a body length of 0.11 to 0.14 mm. The hatched larvae crawl to the surface of the skin, dig holes in the skin, and transform into nymphs in the holes. The larvae also penetrate into the skin, forming narrow and shallow holes, and transform into adults inside. Females live for about 3 to 4 weeks, and males die after mating. Canine scabies mites are contracted through direct contact.
Treatment methods:
The main treatment for scabies mites is subcutaneous injection of ivermectin or doramectin, but avermectin can also be used. Canine scabies mites can temporarily attack people and cause itching and papular dermatitis. However, canine scabies mites cannot reproduce in humans, so people can recover without treatment.
Topical Sera Factor (Big Favor) drops are currently the most effective and longest-lasting method.
