In addition to the health of the dog's own eyes, the production of tear stains is also a very important reason. The occurrence of tear stains has a great impact on the appearance of dogs, especially for white dogs such as white VIPs, Bichons, Satsumas, etc., they look even more obvious, and their image can't help but be greatly compromised. When you find that your dog has tear stains, don’t just clean it blindly. You should also find out what is the cause of the tear stains. Only by fundamentally solving the problem can certain improvements be achieved.

The root causes of tear stains: nasolacrimal ducts, conjunctiva, oral and dental diseases, ear scabies, etc. Pain can prompt your dog to cry, and the nutrient-rich tears provide the perfect environment for bacteria to grow. The bacterial metabolites are oxidized and form dark tear stains that stick to the hair around the eyes.

Processing method:

1. Take a clean towel or cotton ball and use warm water to wipe the area around the dog's eyes every day. Pay special attention to the eye sockets, which can easily harbor dirt and evil.

2. Trim the hair around the dog's eyes regularly to avoid the hair around the eyes being too long and irritating the dog's eyes and causing tears. When trimming, be careful not to injure the dog. Another thing to note is that when cutting the hair around the eyes, you must be careful not to scratch the dog with the scissors. You must also carefully set aside the short hair to avoid getting it into the dog’s eyeballs, otherwise it will become sticky. The dog still sheds tears above. If it gets in, don't pick it up with your hands, use a clean soft cloth or a very soft paper towel to slowly brush it out. Too strong a method will make the dog feel uncomfortable and refuse the owner's cleaning work.

3. Regularly provide eye care for dogs every week. On the one hand, it can help clear the nasolacrimal ducts and reduce the appearance of tear stains. On the other hand, it can also make the dog feel comfortable and enhance the relationship between the dog and its owner.

4. You should also pay considerable attention to the choice of food. Your dog’s food should be natural food that does not contain any artificial preservatives or colorings. Also, the food you feed should not be too salty, and try not to feed foods that are easy to cause irritation, otherwise it will make the tears worse. If your dog's eyes are inflamed, you can put some eye drops into them to reduce inflammation.

5. If you take your dog out, try not to go out when the sun is strong to avoid the sun irritating the dog’s eyes and causing tears.

6. Pay attention to the changes in the dog's eyes: whether the eyes are moist and lively, whether the conjunctiva and canthus of the eyes are congested, whether the dog often scratches its eyes with hands or feet, and whether the amount of secretions increases. If your eyes are too dry or have a lot of secretions, you can use artificial tears or rinse them with saline.

To deal with the problem of tear stains in dogs, it is best to carry out anti-inflammation and food management at the same time. Under normal circumstances, we are not very good at judging what causes tear stains in dogs, so the first thing to consider is the dog’sWhether there is inflammation in the dog's eyes, eye drops are a common method. Then, control the diet, do not feed too salty food, and ensure enough drinking water. You can also cut off the discolored hair first. If you find your dog is crying later, you should deal with it promptly and make sure the area around the eyes is dry to avoid oxidation and making the coat red.
