Since a dog’s nose is so important, what should we do if it is accidentally injured? The editor’s big butt once got into a fight with someone else’s dog, and his nose was damaged (disfigured!).

Use a cotton swab to clean the wrinkles first. You can dip it in some alcohol first, which can disinfect it (avoid the wound). Too much swab will cause irritation to the nasal cavity, so excessive cleaning and disinfection should be avoided. Then use a cotton swab dipped in ointment to treat the dog's wound. Change the dressing once or twice a day. In about 2 to 3 days, the dog's wound will be significantly improved.

In addition to the sensitive sense of smell, the magical dog nose has many functions. Let’s talk about it slowly below.

1. A wet nose is a sign of health

1. The dog’s dark nose is always moist, and sometimes there is a ticking nose. Just the opposite of us humans, a dog's nose like this means it is healthy and normal. Why is this?

2. There is a mucous membrane on the dog's olfactory organ. On this mucous membrane, some mucus is often secreted to moisten these olfactory cells, so that the cells can more sensitively transmit various odors from the olfactory nerve to the brain. Moreover, there is a piece of hairless mucosal tissue on the tip surface of its nose. Mucus is also secreted here to keep the olfactory cells in a better state, so its nose is always moist and cool.

3. In addition, because it licks often (it really loves licking, sometimes I worry about whether it will lick bald), it is also to keep the tip of its nose moist and sensitive.

4. If your dog’s nose becomes dry or red and cracked in daily life, you should pay attention. This may be a sign of illness, such as cold, fever, canine distemper, parvovirus, etc. This is because sick dogs are too uncomfortable to lick their noses, and as their body temperature rises, their noses are more likely to dry out.

2. It is normal for a dog to have a dry nose in the following situations

1. When the dog just wakes up from sleep. Because it doesn't lick its nose when sleeping, it will naturally be dry when it wakes up. Parents, don't be nervous.

2. Sometimes when exercising, the dog will rarely lick its nose because it is too excited, which will cause dryness.

However, the above two situations are short-term, not long-term manifestations.
