If you find something is wrong, it is best for parents to take the dog’s temperature first (the normal anal temperature for adult dogs is: 38.5~37.5°, and for puppies it does not exceed 39°). If it really is a fever, you should take it to a doctor immediately. It is not recommended that parents take random medicines for their dogs at home.

At the same time, you should pay attention to the dog's condition and environmental hygiene. Keep it clean and dry, reduce bathing, get more sun, give your dog plenty of water, and avoid eating bones and salty and greasy food.

1. Why is the nose black?

Most of the dog's body is protected by fur, and only the nose is directly exposed to the sun. The epidermis of a black nose contains skin melanin (eumelanin). Melanocytes first produce the raw materials for melanin and secrete them into skin cells. These melanins prevent DNA in cells from mutating due to exposure to ultraviolet rays from sunlight.

2. Causes of nose discoloration and methods to improve it

Most dogs have black noses. If your dog's nose changes from black to pink, it means there is a problem with melanin deposition.

① What affects the melanin deposition in a dog’s nose is “crisp amino acid oxidase”. As the dog ages, its effect will gradually become smaller, so that the nose of an old dog is no longer as dark as that of a puppy.

② In addition, amino acid oxidase is very sensitive to temperature and has a stronger effect in warm environments. Therefore, dogs’ noses tend to fade in winter and usually return to black in summer. In this case, as long as the dog is in good mental condition and has no other symptoms of illness, it does not fall into the category of disease. It is a very normal phenomenon.

③ Are allergic to plastic products. Contact dermatitis caused by plastic rice bowls can also cause the dog's nose to discolor and the lips to become swollen. It is recommended to use stainless steel rice basin.

④ Leukoplakia will cause the nose to discolor, and white spots will also appear on the dog's body.

⑤ If the dog’s nose is scratched or scratched, it will also turn pink. Color will return as the injury heals.

If your dog’s nose is completely pink, you must pay attention to protecting its nose when in the sun and not allowing it to be exposed to the sun.

3. Methods to alleviate the discoloration of the dog’s nose

1. Supplement vitamin B and vitamin C

The B vitamins can help melanin deposition and can also make people's hair black. Vitamin C can help vitamin B absorption.

2. Seaweed powder can also help relieve the discoloration of the nose.
