There are mountain life-saving pills searching for passengers in distress in the ice and snow; dogs risking their lives to search for children in the raging fire; there are dogs risking their lives to rescue in seaside bathing beaches. There are dogs that rescue drowning people; there are loyal dogs that bravely fight venomous snakes and beasts in the deep mountains and old forests to protect their owners from disaster; there are dogs that sniff out the exact location of buried alive people in the collapsed rubble. It is a life-saving dog that delivers food, oxygen, letters, etc., so how can you train your dog better? Is it possible to become an excellent rescue dog?

1. Training of snow rescue dogs

The training purpose of snow rescue dogs is to more quickly and accurately find and determine the location of people buried in snow and carry out rescue work. Avalanche search detectors and searches based on beacons carried by climbers are also methods of avalanche rescue, but they are limited to operations after the snow melts. According to statistics, 90% of avalanche victims are alive within 15 minutes, and the chance of survival after 35 minutes is 30%, and the chance of survival decreases rapidly as time prolongs. Adequate search of the field, quick reactions and training safety are three important factors in this training.

First, develop the dog’s search ability. Choose an open snowy mountainous area, and the trainer and assistant trainer take the dog to the destination. The trainer first teases the dog with food or objects. When it gets excited, the assistant trainer takes away the food or object in front of the dog and runs away. Hidden.

Then, the trainer gives the "search" command to the dog and instructs the dog to search the ground. When the dog excitedly searches for the assistant trainer, the assistant trainer immediately gives it food.

At the same time, the trainer and assistant trainers enthusiastically encourage and reward the dog, giving it the impression that after searching for the assistant trainer, it can get delicious food and the favor of the trainer and assistant trainer. With such regular training, the dog's search enthusiasm will become higher and higher, and its interest will become greater and greater.

2. Training of rescue dogs in gravel and rubble

The training method for rescue dogs in gravel and ruins is basically the same as the snow rescue training, except that the training venue should be selected in collapsed buildings or other gravel and bricks. When a dog finds a buried living person, it should bark to indicate it, and the dog should be trained to carry rescue items such as food, oxygen, etc. to the "victim" when people are unable to enter or exit, so as to protect them from the threats of hunger and suffocation. , waiting quietly for rescue.

Even in today's peaceful environment, a group of rescue dogs should be trained in cities to carry out emergency rescue in various unexpected events.

3. SeaTraining of rescue dogs

Smuggling detection dogs and drug detection dogs have long been known to everyone. Have you ever heard of dogs that rescue people in the sea?

Training first cultivates the dog's conditioned reflex to swimming commands, gestures or the cry for help of a "drowning person". At the beginning, the assistant trainer pretended to be a "drowning person" and made a struggling cry for help in the water. The trainer gave the "swim" command to the dog and waved to the "drowning person". Then swim with it to the assistant trainer. When the assistant trainer grabs the handle or lifebuoy, let the dog swim to the shore. The trainer and the dog will rescue the "drowning person" ashore together. When the dog completes this During practice, both the assistant trainer and the handler should sincerely reward the dog.

There are also sea life-saving dogs in Italy, and a school has been opened in Pilenga to train sea life-saving dogs. He proudly said: "The rescue dog I trained is the only dog in the world that can jump from a helicopter into the sea to rescue people. It is difficult for them to learn to jump into the water from different heights, but learning how to not be disturbed by noise, wind, etc. , Wave interference is even more difficult." His rescue dog can not only complete the rescue mission with people, but can also perform rescue work alone when people are unable to rescue. For example, for some rocks that are inaccessible to ships, a rescue dog can be tied with a rope and allowed to swim over with a lifebuoy and drag the victim back.

IV. Training of rescue dogs in fires

Dogs used to rescue people in fires are called "fire dogs." At present, some countries in Western Europe have begun training and using it, and have achieved good results. "Fire Dogs" mainly rely on their unique sense of smell and ability to identify direction of movement to help firefighters quickly search for children who are hiding or knocked unconscious at fire scenes. Dogs used to rescue people in fires must be bold, docile, brave, hardy, and not afraid of flames.

Training can be carried out in 2 stages:

1. Cultivation of basic abilities

The basic abilities of rescue dogs in fires are mainly the training of searching for children in buildings, climbing, overcoming obstacles, and picking up valuables. Please refer to the relevant chapters of this book for specific methods.

2. Practical training

Dogs are mainly trained to repeatedly enter and exit burning buildings to search for hidden or unconscious children. At the beginning of the training, only smoke was used to fill the entire building, and the trainer and the dog went in to search for people.
