Whether it is a puppy that has just entered the home or a larger adult dog when training, everyone must keep one thing in mind: as long as the dog does something wrong, it must be rewarded in time. Sometimes just verbal praise is useless, you also need to give your dog something practical. In general, there are three ways to reward your dog: petting, food, and toys.

1. Food rewards:

Food reward is the most commonly used reward method when training dogs (and the most core~).

But the food cannot be very large, or something the dog doesn’t like to eat. The food should be made small (otherwise, the food will be gone before a few training sessions~), and the small food is easy to hold in the hand to tease the dog, so that the dog will be interested in eating it and behave well.

2. Caressing rewards:

Although there is nothing delicious and no special toys. But as long as you can pet your dog, it will also give it a great sense of satisfaction. For example: when the dog behaves well, squatting down, stroking its head, tickling its neck or scratching under its ears will let the dog understand that it behaved well this time, and continue to do so. Behave yourself.

You know, dogs are very concerned about their status in their owners' hearts. The more you make them feel that you value them, the better they will behave. This is the same as with children.

3. Toy rewards:

When your dog behaves well, toys can also be used as a reward. You can give it a toy and let it play by itself for a while, or you can play with it for a while, and the dog will be quite happy.

But the most important thing about this reward method is: don’t mix the toys used as rewards with the toys your dog usually plays with.

Dogs are quite fond of the new and hate the old, so you usually put away the toys that are used as rewards and only use them during training. Only then will they be fully attractive to the dog, and only then will it perform well to get this reward.
