There are four main causes of miscarriage in dogs: mechanical impact and jumping, infectious diseases, parasitic diseases and reproductive diseases, and endocrine disorders. After a dog has a miscarriage, you need to find out the specific cause in time, and take the dog to the pet hospital as soon as possible to clean the uterus and check whether there are lesions or bacterial infections in the uterus, reproductive tract, etc. At the same time, we must also pay attention to taking good care of the dog, providing the dog with nutrition, keeping warm, and keeping the living environment clean, hygienic, and dry to prevent bacteria from breeding and causing infection and sequelae.

1. Abortion caused by mechanical impact and jumping

Dogs usually have a lively and cheerful personality, and they like to jump, run, and exercise in life. If the owner does not restrict the dog's movements when it is pregnant, it can easily cause the dog to miscarry due to running, jumping, impact on the abdomen, or excessive strenuous exercise.

2. Miscarriage caused by various infectious diseases

Infectious diseases such as canine distemper, tuberculosis, and infectious hepatitis are the main causes of miscarriage in dogs. Therefore, before mating and breeding dogs, it is best to have a comprehensive physical examination to make sure that the health is not affected by infectious diseases before mating and breeding.

3. Miscarriage caused by parasitic diseases and reproductive diseases

When dogs suffer from parasitic diseases such as toxoplasmosis, clinical miscarriage can often occur. Chronic endometritis, sperm and egg abnormalities, placenta, fetal membrane abnormalities and other diseases are also one of the main culprits leading to miscarriage in dogs.

4. Miscarriage caused by endocrine disorders

When dogs have endocrine disorders, it can easily lead to miscarriage. For example, hypothyroidism and insufficient progesterone secretion, systemic diseases, nutritional deficiencies, etc. make the dog's uterus and fetus's maintenance structure a fragile part of the body, so it is very easy to cause miscarriage.

Note: After the dog is pregnant, the owner should add more food rich in vitamins, fiber and other nutrients than usual, and eat small and frequent meals every day. Scientific feeding can also reduce the chance of miscarriage in dogs to a certain extent. In addition, try to avoid frightening the dog. You can exercise moderately but do not let the dog do strenuous exercise to prevent miscarriage.
