Can dogs eat sweet food?

Although sweets are delicious and dogs also like to eat them, eating sweets has many disadvantages and no benefits for dogs.

This situation was caused by the friend’s “kind” candy. Remember: dogs cannot eat too much candy! Because the dog’s digestive system cannot secrete and decompose disaccharides (such as sucrose, etc.), it cannot decompose and absorb sucrose; once the dog eats a large amount of sucrose or fructose, it will A hypertonic environment will be formed, allowing a large amount of body fluids to enter the intestinal cavity, leading to diarrhea.

At the same time, in addition to candies, dogs should also avoid eating other sweets. Frequent feeding of sweets to dogs also has the following disadvantages:

1. First of all, the proportion of sugar and fat in sweets is relatively high. Even if the dog does not eat much, the proportion of energy and other nutrients ingested by the dog will be out of balance;

2. The energy intake of dogs is relatively high, and it cannot be consumed and is converted into fat and deposited in the dog's body, causing dog obesity;

3. Soft sweets are not conducive to training the dog’s teeth, and the crumbs of sweets are a good culture medium for bacteria, which can more easily promote the growth of bacteria and lead to dental plaque, tooth decay and other dental diseases in dogs;

4. Dogs who often eat sweets are prone to gastrointestinal and oral diseases.

In addition, eating ice cream and other sweets that are too cold or too greasy can also cause vomiting or diarrhea in dogs and cause enteritis. For the above reasons, you should not give your dog sweets frequently.
