Bathing can not only help dogs remove odor and refresh their hair, but for parents, it is also the only way to increase the intimacy between you and your dog. But have you paid attention to these before preparing to bathe your dog? Question?

From bathing to drying, what we need to know:

1. Bath preparation

· Room temperature/water temperature

The appropriate water temperature should be 36-38°C, which is close to the dog’s body temperature.

The room is not prone to moisture or coldness, and should be kept at around 30°C.

· An area suitable for bathing

A closed bathing environment around the bathtub or bucket can prevent dogs from running away wet because they are afraid/resisting the bath. If you use a bathtub to bathe, remember to add a non-slip mat underneath to prevent the dog from slipping.

 2. Bathing process

· Grooming hair

Before wetting the hair, comb it clean first, because wet hair is difficult to clean. In addition, you can check whether there are wounds/skin problems. If you are afraid that your dog will be in pain, you can use your other hand to press the root of the hair to relieve the pain.

· Cleaning sequence

· The noise of running faucets may also scare them, so add water before putting your dog in.

· The depth of the water depends on the size of the dog (5-10 cm) as this may cause them to panic.

· Apply the diluted shower gel downwards from head to back and rub gently.

· Dogs who are exposed to washing for the first time will be afraid of the washing behavior. You can start from the feet and proceed in the order of feet → body → head. Finally, remember to clean again.

3. End of bathing

· Drying/blow drying

· Blow dry the hair with your fingers/comb and a hair dryer to ensure the hair is dry.

· Pay attention to the ears, neck, and armpits, which are extremely difficult to dry and can easily lead to various skin diseases.

· It is not advisable to stay in the same position for a long time during the process, as it will cause skin damage.

Note:

1. Selection of bath products

· Do not use human body wash. Using our body wash can cause symptoms such as itchy skin and dry hair in dogs.

· Do not use medicated baths for bathing at will. When the dog does not have any skin problems, using medicated baths to "prevent" skin problems will lead to an imbalance in the pH value of the skin, a decrease in resistance, and then trigger diseases.

 2. Bath time intervals

· The suitable cycle is 7-10 days/time in summer, the suitable cycle is 10-15 days/time in spring and autumn, and the suitable cycle is 15-20 days/time in winter.

· Frequent cleaning will lead to a decrease in dog skin resistance and breed various skin diseases.

3. Bathing areas that need to be avoided

· Around the eyes, it will cause damage to the eyes

· Avoid letting water flow into the ears, causing ear canal infection

Remind all parents that when bathing your dog, you should also remember to change into unnecessary clothes or wear an apron, otherwise the dog will splash water on your beautiful clothes. If you encounter your "special" period, it's not good to catch a cold. Of course, dogs will also have "special" periods when they cannot take a bath and can only be wiped with a wet towel to maintain daily cleanliness.

"Special" situations when bathing is not appropriate:

1. Pregnancy/lactation

During the period from pregnancy (bathing is not recommended after 2-3 months) to lactation, the dog's body is extremely weak, and bathing during this period can easily cause them to get sick.

2. Illness/injury

After taking a bath, the condition will worsen, causing hypoglycemia or even shock; the wound of an injured dog will become inflamed, aggravating the injury.

3. Newly bought puppy

If the cat is not accustomed to the new environment when it first arrives home, taking a bath immediately will make it fearful of bathing. Wait at least a month before taking a bath again.

4. Just finished the vaccination

The dog needs to go through the vaccine observation period (7-10 days), and then start bathing when everything is normal.Dogs that have not been vaccinated should not be bathed because their resistance is weak. If they catch a cold, it will also affect subsequent vaccinations.

5. Estrus

Female dogs are more likely to get dirty and have a strong smell when they are in estrus, but bathing during this period can cause bacterial infection in the dog’s private parts

In addition to the points mentioned above, dogs cannot be bathed immediately after strenuous exercise (blood circulation is not timely, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the heart) or after eating a full stomach (causing indigestion/low blood sugar and fainting), at least after 30 minutes. can be carried out. It is also not advisable to take a bath when encountering sudden changes in temperature, thunderstorms and other weather conditions.

If your dog encounters skin diseases such as fungi, mites, seborrheic dermatitis, etc., please contact the nearest clinic in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment. Do not blindly follow the trend, purchase and use medicinal baths for independent treatment, which may cause the dog’s The situation is even worse.
