The relationship between people is based on mutual trust, and the same is true between people and cats. When you want to get close to a stray cat, you may just need to feed it for a few days, and it will quietly approach you. But once they lose trust in you, the way they get along with you will become completely different from the past.

Take this matter as an example of my friend's "Milk" and "Wonton". They have very distinct personalities, they are very afraid of strangers and silly and sweet. I remember that when the milk was first brought to his home, it stayed in a cardboard box for a whole week. It only dared to come out to eat cat food at night when everyone was sleeping, while the wontons adapted perfectly to the new environment by relying on a can.

Happily, after half a month, Milk has turned into a cat that can be torn over at will. It is no longer afraid of others and has become clingy and full of curiosity. But Wonton had to go to the hospital every day because of his corneal damage. He needed injections into his eyes during the day and forced ointments and medicines to be given at night. Each of these painful things made him afraid of contact with others. Even though it has now recovered, it has never been seen following people around again.

You may think that cats are sensitive and "vindictive", so wontons should never be as silly and sweet as when they first arrived. But in fact, no matter what type of cat you have or what its personality is, as long as you give it enough respect and trust, it will gradually return your feelings and regain that trust.

What cats do when they don’t trust:

· Rarely stay by your side

· Pupils vibrate when approaching

· Body hairy

· Escape

· Breath warning

How to build a trusting relationship with cats?

·Respect its space

If your cat becomes sensitive due to a new environment, you need to give it some time to adapt and give it an independent and comfortable space, such as a cardboard box with holes. Remember not to invade those spaces until it regains its mood.

· Observe body language

Judge the cat's mood through its body language. For example, if its tail is upward, it means it is relaxed, if its tail slowly shakes, it means it is curious, if its tail shakes violently, it means it is angry, and if its tail stands upright, it means it is scared or frightened.

·Wait for it to come to you

Don’t force it to do anything. Let it decide when to interact with you. That will be the time when it feels most comfortable. Cats are very observant animals. Even if you don't communicate directly, they can understand you by observing your movements, smells, and sounds.

· Avoid scary objects

Most cats don’t like things that make loud noises, such as vacuum cleaners and hair dryers. Try to place them in a quiet place with the door closed, and give them some toys and snacks. This will give them a sense of security.

·Understand the limits of cats being petted

Use a step-by-step approach to learn your cat's favorite touch areas. Don't poke or tease. Use predictable movements. If it behaves aggressively when you pet it, the frequency and time should be reduced.

·Let it make choices and respect its decision

Whether it’s where to sleep or whether it wants to play, letting your cat decide can build its confidence and let it know that you won’t force it to do anything~

· Engage in predictable behavior

Don't move or talk in a way that scares the cat, and don't suddenly stamp your feet on the floor. Try to keep a calm and calm voice.

·Keep it active

Control your enthusiasm for interacting with your cat, avoid using toys that make your cat feel angry or aggressive, and remember to let it grab the toy occasionally, otherwise it may think you are teasing it.

·Reward it often

You can reward it with treats, petting, toys or your gentle voice for any good behavior. You can also use rewards to encourage it to do good things.

·Leave your scent

When you leave the house, place your clothing near their food or hiding area to familiarize them with the scent.

·Punishment is prohibited

Because cats can’t communicate with humans, when you punishWhen it does, the cat will only think it is meaningless violence, and these behaviors will only make it remember fear and pain.

Restoring a cat’s trust is not easy and takes a long time. Just like educating children, everyone has a different personality. We should try to understand their personality and psychological state to interact with them, and express your love to them no matter how busy they are~
