Ostrich is relatively independent and will not carry out too many instructions from its owner. It has an equal relationship with its owner. However, wild ostriches are national second-level protected animals and are not allowed to be captured or raised.

How to raise ostriches:

1. Breeding site. It is necessary to choose a place with high terrain, convenient drainage, good ventilation and no obstruction as the breeding ground. The ground should be covered with sandy soil, and the fence should be well closed and strong to prevent the ostriches from escaping. Ostriches are very sensitive, so the breeding farm should be far away from residential areas and the surrounding environment should be quiet. The venue must be planned with partitions, including sleeping areas, exercise areas, rest areas, etc. The exercise area should be large enough for the ostrich to run freely.

2. Daily feeding. Ostriches are herbivorous birds, so their feed is mainly grass, supplemented by cornmeal and the like. Because ostriches have a large food intake and are prone to overeating, they must be fed regularly and quantitatively, and their movement must be promoted. What you need to pay attention to when drinking water for ostriches is to try to control the drinking water within four times a day, and pay attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of the drinking water to reduce the occurrence of intestinal diseases in ostriches.

3. Management during the laying period. During the laying period, ostriches should be fed regularly, quantitatively, and in groups. A female ostrich during the egg-laying period should be fed three times a day. When feeding, roughage should be fed first, and then concentrated feed. The amount of roughage fed per animal is more than 10 kilograms per day, and the amount of concentrated feed fed per animal is about 3 kilograms per day. One month before laying eggs, ostriches need to be reared in pairs. The normal standard is 1 male ostrich and 3 female ostriches in a small group. In order to ensure the good egg-laying performance of female ostriches, a forced lay-off period is required once a year. The lay-off period is approximately from November to January of the next year. Remember that the lay-off female ostriches should be raised separately from the male ostriches.
