The Egyptian tortoise cannot be kept in deep water. It is more adaptable to dry and cool environments and mostly inhabits deserts and semi-arid environments, such as gravel plains, rocks, sandy dry valleys, and dry woodlands. It is best to use wooden boxes to raise Egyptian tortoises in captivity to keep the environment ventilated. The temperature should be controlled at about 17 degrees at night and around 24 degrees during the day.

The living habits of the Egyptian tortoise:

1. If the temperature exceeds 30°C, the activity will decrease and it will enter aestivation state. But they are very active in winter, and the period from December to March is the most active time for Egyptian tortoises.

2. The Egyptian tortoise has a very small food intake. In the natural environment, it mainly feeds on weeds and fallen flowers. In captivity, it can be fed lettuce, lettuce, etc.

3. In the cold season, Egyptian tortoises will go out at noon. In warmer seasons, they are more active in the morning and evening. The rest of the time they hide under grass or in rodent dens.
