How to treat ear mites in Ibizan dogs? Causes and treatments of ear itch mites in dogs. Otitis mites are caused by canine ear itch mites of the genus Otitis, a common ear skin disease in dogs.

Treatment methods for ear mites in Ibizan dogs:

1. The cause of ear itching mites

1. The male body length of dog ear itch mite is 0.35-0.38 mm, and there are two slender hairs at the end of its third pair of legs; the female body length is 0.46-0.53 mm, and the fourth pair of legs is not Well-developed, unable to extend beyond the body edge, 3 times shorter than the 3rd pair of legs: the 3rd and 4th pairs of legs have no suction cups.

2. Parasitizes in the external auditory canal of dogs and makes a living by piercing the skin to suck lymph and exudate, resulting in irritation, inflammation and scab formation.

3. Sometimes due to secondary bacterial infection, the lesions can penetrate deep into the middle ear, inner ear and meninges.

2. Clinical symptoms of ear itching mites

1. Otoitch mites parasitize the external ears of dogs, causing a large amount of ear fat secretion and lymphatic leakage, and often lead to secondary suppuration. There is an itching sensation, and the sick dog keeps shaking its head, scratching its ears, whining, rubbing its ears on objects, and even causing bleeding in the external auditory canal. Sometimes a rotational movement is made to the side with more serious lesions. Later, the lesions may spread to the forehead and the back of the ear shell.

2. There is dark brown wax and exudate in the ear canal, and sometimes there is a phosphorus-like scab.

3. If the meninges are damaged, the sick dog will have symptoms of madness.

4. Use an otoscope to examine the ear canal. You can find small white or flesh-colored ear itch mites moving on the dark brown exudate. Examine the exudate with a magnifying glass or under a low-power microscope to prove that it is dog ears. Itch mites.

5. When the symptoms are not obvious enough, you can take the scab on the skin of the affected area to check whether there are insects.

3. Prevention and treatment measures of ear itching mites

1. Inject less irritating oil (such as mineral oil or earwax dissolving agent) into the ear canal, and then massage gently to help clean it, which can kill many mites.

2. Use a metal ring to remove a large amount of exudate that is close to the eardrum during the cleaning process.

3. Apply acaricides after cleaning: commonly used solutions such as Conex, dimethyl phthalate, and protective oil matrix are instilled into the ear canal once a day.

4. Dogs with severe cases should be treated with parasiticide powder or medicinal bath every day to kill mites that are not in the external auditory canal.

5. If there are inflammatory lesions, hydrocortisone neomycin ointment should be applied to the inflammatory site until the inflammation subsides.
