How to treat a cold in a spaniel? The main cause of colds in dogs is the effect of cold. Especially when some dog owners are careless and have improper feeding and management, it is more likely to happen.

1. Dog cold symptoms

If the dog catches a cold, the main symptoms are: the dog is depressed and indifferent, the tips of the ears and nose are cold and tearful, and the body temperature rises (dog owners can touch the inside of the dog’s thighs with their hands, it should feel hot to the touch) ), and the dog also has a cough.

If not treated in time, dogs can easily turn from a cold into pneumonia.

2. Drugs to prevent and treat colds in dogs

1. In the early stage, you can give your dog some children’s anti-cold medicines, such as children’s cold granules and cold granules; but please note that the dosage is only for children, and do not give it to your dog for adults.

2. Dogs with cough symptoms can take oral compound licorice tablets, 3-4 tablets/time, twice a day.

3. In the early stage, you can also take 1-2 tablets of aspirin/time; or intramuscular injection of 30% metamizole, 1-2 times a day, 2 ml each time.

4. Antipyretic and anti-inflammatory: The normal body temperature of dogs does not exceed 39.3℃. When a sick dog has a cold, its body temperature exceeds 40℃ and chills occur, antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be used. The more commonly used one is Diazepam, which is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly with 0.5 to 2 ml depending on the size of the individual. Bupleurum injection can be used as traditional Chinese medicine, which has good curative effect.

5. If you are worried about concurrent infections in dogs, penicillin is the first choice. 400,000 to 800,000 units are injected intramuscularly twice a day. Other antibacterial drugs such as kanamycin, cephalosporin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, etc. can also be used. Severe cases should be treated with infusion. Penicillin, dexamethasone, vitamin C, etc. can be added to 10% glucose solution and intravenously dripped together.

3. Notes:

1. If the dog is less than three months old, the dosage should not exceed one-quarter of the adult dosage; if it is less than six months old, the dosage should not exceed one-third of the adult dosage; for adult dogs, the dosage should not exceed one-third of the adult dosage. Just one will do.

2. Dog owners should strengthen their dogs’ daily cold-resistant exercises to enhance their dogs’ resistance to colds.
