What’s wrong with dogs having vomiting and diarrhea? Is the dog suffering from food poisoning?
Infected with canine parvovirus
Dogs with vomiting and diarrhea may be infected with canine parvovirus. Owners can check whether the dog's vomit has a fishy smell and whether the dog's feces is bloody. If so, then it is likely that you have canine parvovirus. Test strips can be purchased to check for infection.
Caused by parasites
If your dog has vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of appetite, jelly-like poop or bugs in the poop, it means that the dog is likely to have parasites in its stomach. If you have parasites, you can give your dog internal deworming medicine.
Food Poisoning
If your dog is found to be vomiting, having diarrhea, not eating, or even unable to stand still, then your dog is probably suffering from food poisoning. The owner can give more water to dilute the toxic substances. If it is serious, it is best to take the dog to the hospital for gastric lavage immediately.
Indigestion
The dog’s gastrointestinal tract is very fragile. If the dog is not fed regularly, or the dog is always fed irritating food, the dog is prone to vomiting, diarrhea, or even diarrhea. It is a phenomenon of dehydration. The owner should adjust the feeding time and frequency so that the dog can eat regularly. Probiotics can also be added to dog food to promote digestion and absorption.
