Does the rabies vaccine require at least 5 shots?

There are two types of rabies vaccine immunization procedures:
5-shot immunization program, 2-1-1 (4-shot) immunization program.

5-shot vaccination schedule
Injection dates are after exposure: 0 days, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. In principle, injections must be carried out strictly according to the date, and injections in advance are absolutely prohibited. The first 2 injections must be given according to the date. The third injection can be postponed for 1-2 days, the fourth injection can be postponed for 2-3 days, and the fifth injection can be postponed for 3-5 days.

2-1 -1 procedure
refers to 2 injections on the 0th day of exposure, 1 injection on the 7th day, and 1 injection on the 21st day. If the rabies vaccine is injected according to the immunization schedule and is exposed again within half a year, rabies vaccination is not required. 2 booster shots are required from 6 months to 1 year, 3 booster shots are required from 1 year to 3 years, and re-injection is required after 3 years. For those who are re-exposed, there is an immune mechanism in the body, and antibodies can be quickly produced after the vaccine is injected again, so there is no need to inject passive immune preparations.
To avoid getting fake vaccines, it is recommended to go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
