What are the symptoms of parvovirus in dogs?

Parvovirus in dogs is mainly divided into two types: enteritis and myocarditis. There are also mixed cases, but they are relatively rare.

Enteritis type parvosymptoms

1. The incubation period is 7-14 days.
2. The onset is acute, with symptoms such as vomiting, depression, and loss of appetite.
3. Fever (40-41℃)
4. The feces is gray or gray-yellow. The feces contains a large amount of mucosa and pseudomucosa, and is soy sauce color or blood sample. It smells fishy.
When there are no secondary infections, sick dogs will generally recover in 7-10 days. However, this disease is more common in puppies and has a high mortality rate.

Myocarditis-type symptoms

1. Sick dogs will appear sluggish.
2. The mucosa is pale, the pulse is fast and irregular, breathing is difficult, and there is reflux murmur in the heart area on auscultation.
3. Sick dogs usually die of heart failure.

How to prevent parvovirus in dogs

1. Vaccination prevention. Dogs infected with parvovirus will have strong immunity. No matter what kind of vaccine, the immune effect is not good for dogs with antibodies in the body. The only way to improve the immune effect of dogs is to take multiple consecutive vaccinations.
2. The combined application of hyperserum and antibiotics has certain preventive and therapeutic effects.
