Acute edema is mostly caused by allergies and requires desensitization treatment. First, the allergen must be determined, and then treated with antihistamines, steroids, antibiotic ointments and other drugs. If parasites, bacteria or fungi cause wound infection and edema, the pus needs to be cleaned and treated with anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, etc.

The cause of edema in dogs is usually a decrease in plasma colloid osmotic pressure, leading to peripheral edema in dogs, such as hypoalbuminemia. Caused by certain heart conditions, such as congestive heart failure. It may be caused by vasculitis or obstruction of venous return.
