The following reasons may cause dogs to stay awake and panting in the middle of the night:

1. Very high room temperature: Room temperature is too high not only in summer, but also in winter. Sometimes, when you turn on the air conditioner, the room temperature in your home may also be very high. It may not feel like anything to you, but to your dog, it's different. If he doesn't have a cool place to sleep, he may work harder to lower his body temperature by panting heavily.

2. Intense exercise before going to bed: The dog’s brain nerves will be abnormally excited after just engaging in strenuous activity, and it will be accompanied by severe panting. The owner can let the dog rest quietly for a period of time to recover.

3. Nervousness and anxiety: Dogs, like humans, sometimes react to stress or anxiety by increasing their heart rate and breathing. Panting may therefore also be a sign that your dog is afraid of something or that it is caused by being frightened at night. It is recommended that the owner comforts the dog appropriately and can also use snacks to distract the dog's attention.

4. Feed too late or wrongly: If you feed your dog shortly before going to bed, this may be the reason for his nighttime wheezing. In particular, raw meat from cows or other large animals, such as buffalo or bison, causes the body to generate more heat. The dog is yelling to cool its body again. Even disease-related gastrointestinal disorders, where metabolic activity is disrupted, can cause a dog to be unable to digest its dinner, and its discomfort will manifest itself in panting. Basically, it is recommended to feed the dog during the day (one to two meals as needed). You should avoid feeding at night (especially meat).

5. Illness and pain: If your dog is panting particularly strongly at night, it may also be caused by illness. Sometimes the pain begins at night, when the dog is resting and no longer distracted by the turbulence of daily life. If your dog doesn't have any of the above reasons, such as high temperatures or late-night exercise, you need to have your dog checked out by a veterinarian. Dogs rarely show severe pain, such as internal organs, joint disease, or injury. Heart or lung problems and hypothyroidism may also be causes of wheezing.
