What medicine should be used for acute gastroenteritis in dogs?

1. Sedation and antiemetics: intramuscular injection of metoclopramide 1~2 mg/kg, 2 times/day. Antiemetics can also be used when vomiting is severe. 1~2ml/time.

2. Anti-inflammatory: Gentamicin 2~3 mg/kg, intramuscular injection, 2 times a day, or oral gentamicin 4~6 mg/kg, 3 times/day.

3. Rehydration: Sick dogs with severe vomiting, severe dehydration and poor appetite should be rehydrated in time. 5% glucose sodium chloride injection*** or compound sodium chloride solution can be injected intravenously. Giving vitamin B1, vitamin B6, and vitamin C at the same time can often achieve better therapeutic effects. For severe cases, 10% potassium chloride and 5% sodium bicarbonate solution should be added.

Causes of gastroenteritis in dogs:

1. Improper diet, such as swallowing foreign bodies, irregular diet and other factors that cause dogs to suffer from gastroenteritis;

2. Gastroenteritis secondary to diseases such as gastritis or enteritis;

3. Gastroenteritis caused by dogs being infected with bacteria, viruses or parasites;

4. Gastroenteritis caused by stimulation by drugs, hormones and other factors.
