How to treat folliculitis in cats? When cats are sick, we must first know the symptoms of the disease. Only then can we treat it better. Today, the editor will introduce to you the reasons why cats suffer from folliculitis.

Folliculitis in cats is not a serious disease and can be easily treated at home. If you think your cat is still serious, you must go to a pet hospital for treatment.

Folliculitis is caused by endocrine disorders. It is manifested by many small black spots on the chin, like cinders. It also occurs at the root of the tail of some cats. The manifestation is that the root of the tail always looks very dirty, as if it cannot be washed clean. .

Folliculitis is not a serious problem. In fact, the treatment method is also very simple. Just wash it with a highly alkaline detergent. You can wash the cat's tail with laundry soap (the tail can only be washed if the skin is not broken).

Areas where folliculitis is prone to occur

Head: Distributed on the edges of the chin and lips, appearing as small black cinders.

Abdomen: Small black cinders appear on the abdomen and around the nipples.

Tail: The back of the tail extends from the root to 2/3 of the tail length. The coat is always oily and dirty.

Causes of folliculitis

1. After a cat reaches sexual maturity, if the sex hormones in the body are secreted too strongly, it will cause endocrine disorders in the body, and the reaction on the skin is folliculitis. This disease is more likely to occur in male cats than in female cats, and it is more common in the tail and chin.

2. Eat cat food that is too oily.

3. Daily cleaning is not enough. Although cats do not need frequent bathing, daily grooming cannot be ignored. If a cat's coat is matted and knotted, oil will accumulate over time, causing folliculitis.

Treatment of mild folliculitis

Since there are five male cats in my family, I have encountered this disease more than once or twice, so I have tried many methods. I will tell you about each method one by one below. Efficacy.

Green tea

Efficacy: I personally feel that there is basically no obvious effect. I still use warm green tea water to clean the cat, but the oil removal effect is not satisfactory to me.

Sulfur soap

Efficacy: The effect is indeed obvious, but the smell is too pungent for cats.It is troublesome to use daily, and there is a risk of poisoning the cat if it is not cleaned thoroughly.

Recommendation: You can choose this soap as a tail cleaning product when bathing your cat.

Tip: It cannot be used when there is a wound on the affected area.

Alcohol

Efficacy: The effect is obvious and quick. Alcohol not only has a good bactericidal effect, but also inhibits the secretion of oil, which can speed up the healing of the affected area. However, the smell of alcohol is really unpleasant. If the cat has a wound on the affected area, it will cause pain after being applied, so the cat will resist and reject it very strongly.

It is recommended to dilute the alcohol concentration before using it on cats.

The above three methods are only suitable for the early stage of folliculitis.

Care Tips

1. After suffering from folliculitis in the tail, the hair on the tail must be cut off, which will facilitate the application and penetration of the drug.

2. Cats hate having their tails done. If you encounter strong resistance during the application of medicine, be sure not to hold on to the tail, otherwise you will injure it. a
