Bordetosis in cats is a bacterial infectious disease of the respiratory tract. Its full name is bronchiseptic bordetosis. Bordetella bronchiseptica is a common, gram-negative, normal flora found in the nasal cavity and respiratory tract of cats. After cats become ill, various respiratory symptoms often appear, such as difficulty breathing, elevated body temperature, sneezing, cyanosis, purulent secretions in the nose, and local lymph node lesions. Diagnosis can be made based on the cat's clinical symptoms and the presence of Bordetella bronchiseptica in nasal or respiratory secretions. Gram-negative cocci can be detected by taking nasal or respiratory secretions, smears, and Gram staining from sick cats. Antimicrobial agents may be used to inhibit the progression of the disease, or the condition may be treated with amoxicillin or enrofloxacin. This disease is a zoonotic disease and is highly contagious. Once the disease is confirmed, it needs to be isolated as soon as possible to prevent it from being transmitted to pet owners or other organisms.
