Kittens should not eat naproxen. Naproxen is an over-the-counter pain reliever. Cats are very sensitive to naproxen and even small amounts can cause stomach ulcers and kidney failure. It is recommended that owners place naproxen out of the reach of kittens to prevent accidental ingestion. If a kitten eats naproxen, it must be sent to the hospital for treatment in time to avoid missing the best rescue opportunity.

How to induce vomiting if a kitten accidentally eats naproxen:

1. Step one: 3% hydrogen peroxide

When the doctor induces vomiting , generally use hydrogen peroxide with a concentration of 3%, and feed hydrogen peroxide at a ratio of 5ml for every 4.5~5kg of cats without dilution. Before use, the cat's stomach and intestines must be buffered. Feeding some wet food in advance while the cat is still able to eat can make the cat's stomach move. First, put hydrogen peroxide in a medical syringe according to the previous proportions, and feed it to the cat for the first time. Afterwards, let the cat walk a few steps and shake it to help stimulate vomiting. Then wait for five minutes. If the cat does not vomit in the 5 to 10 minutes, feed it the same way for the second time. If it still does not vomit, use the last one. Generally, vomiting can be successfully induced in these few times.

2. Hydrogen peroxide can only expel 40% to 60% of the poison. If the cat’s condition does not improve, activated carbon must be used next. We need to give about 5g of activated carbon for every 4.5kg to 5kg of body weight, and add water to make a paste for the cat to eat. Activated charcoal paste is more difficult to feed. If you cannot feed it with a syringe, you will need to use a gastric tube. At this time, the doctor may ask you to help. In addition, feeding activated charcoal will cause diarrhea or constipation in cats to a certain extent, and the feces will be darker. This is normal and there is no need to worry too much.

The above method is applicable when there is no way to send the patient to the hospital. It is recommended to go to the hospital for gastric lavage as soon as possible to wash out the toxic drugs or food.
