Folded-ear blue cats are not 100% affected by the disease. Every folded-eared cat has a chance of developing the disease, but cats with more folded-ear genes have a higher probability of developing the disease. Homozygous folded-eared cats are much more likely to develop the disease than heterozygous folded-eared cats. The disease in cats with folded ears is most common from four months to one year old, and the disease will also occur after that. If the cat is 4 years old and has not yet developed the disease, then the probability of the disease is definitely much lower than that of normal cats with folded ears.

Symptoms of the disease in cats with folded ears

1. After cats with folded ears become ill, the most serious lesions are the tail and limbs. The tail will become thicker due to bone hyperplasia, the flexibility will decrease, it will not be able to swing, and it will be painful when touched.

2. After limb lesions, the most obvious manifestation of a folded-eared cat is its reluctance to walk or lameness. The hind limbs will be shorter than the forelimbs and very stiff, causing pain when flexing, causing it to sit in a human-like posture. At the same time, the joints and toes will also be deformed due to swelling of the joints.

3. The general abnormality of toenails is that the pads are thicker than normal cats, and the back paws are also abnormally thick. When the cat sits upright, the pillow meat of the back paws cannot touch the ground.
