Ragdoll cats give birth around 63 days into pregnancy. Due to different physical constitutions of cats, there may be a deviation of 1-2 days. This is normal, so don’t worry too much. If the cat has not given birth for many days beyond this time, the owner should take the cat to the hospital for examination to be careful of the cat having dystocia. Pregnant Ragdoll cats will become restless before giving birth, start to walk around, scratch the floor, increase the frequency of excretion, and breathe rapidly. A few hours before delivery, the uterus will begin to contract, and the female cat will become anxious due to labor pains. There will be viscous fluid flowing out of the genitals just before delivery.

Cat postpartum care matters:

1. Disinfect and replace the mother cat’s cat litter, and cut the kitten’s toenails to avoid scratching the mother cat. Use physiological saline to disinfect the female cat's nipples, and help the female cat turn over or exercise regularly to prevent bedsores.

2. Pay attention to the postpartum nutrition of the female cat, ensure sufficient milk, feed some high-protein foods, such as chicken breast, pig's feet, goat's milk, etc., and provide plenty of clean drinking water.

3. The cat’s nipples are exposed and are very susceptible to bacterial infection. Moreover, after the cubs drink milk, it is easy to form milk scab, which is not good for the health of the cubs, so the nipples must be cleaned frequently.

4. Cats are more likely to suffer from hypocalcemia after giving birth, which can lead to hypocalcemic convulsions. Owners should promptly replenish calcium to cats after surgery, such as feeding nutritional creams, calcium tablets, etc.
