Necessary items for delivering a female dog
The birth of a dog is also very hard, and sometimes it can even cause dystocia. Therefore, we parents should also be duty-bound to help our dogs when they give birth. When helping our dogs to give birth smoothly, we should know something about dogs. We need to use things when giving birth, so as not to have to look for them in a hurry when we need them. This is also very detrimental to the production of dogs. Here is a summary of some necessary tools for dog production for parents. For reference.
1. Disposable plastic gloves:
For reasons of hygiene and personal habits, in theory it is best to wear gloves to avoid infection of the mother dog. However, I personally think that if you are not used to wearing gloves, you should not wear them, because delivering a dog requires us to move quickly. If gloves hinder the speed, it is better not to wear them. Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and wipe them with rubbing alcohol to make the work easier.
2. Alcohol:
Used to disinfect hands and instruments. The scissors mentioned below require you to carefully disinfect the blade part with alcohol cotton.
3. Scissors:
Used to cut the umbilical cord of newborn puppies. When delivering a dog, after the puppy is separated from the mother's body with the umbilical cord and placenta, you need to use scissors to cut off the puppy's umbilical cord (retaining a length of 1-2 cm). You need to prepare a pair of sharp scissors. Cut the umbilical cord in one go. The scissors should not be too big and should be used smoothly to avoid hurting the dog's belly.
4. Iodine:
Used to disinfect the belly of puppies who have just had their umbilical cord cut. There will be bleeding when the umbilical cord is just cut. Don't be afraid, this is normal. (When delivering a dog, you can’t tremble at the sight of blood, otherwise something bad will happen.) After cutting the puppy’s umbilical cord, quickly apply iodine to disinfect and stop bleeding.
5. Cotton swab:
Used to apply iodine to the cut umbilical cord of puppies with iodine.
