Many owners think that their pets’ thick fur will make them feel stuffy in the summer, so some people choose to shave their pets’ fur to make them “cooler”. But does this really work for our pets? The answer is no.

The hair of cats and dogs is different from human hair. In addition to resisting the cold, the hair of cats and dogs also helps cats and dogs regulate their own body temperature, resist ultraviolet rays, and prevent sunburn. Both cats and dogs have multiple layers of coat, and they can regulate their body temperature by naturally shedding or growing hair to maintain a comfortable state. Not only will shaving their hair not make them feel "cool," it will be counterproductive.

If you must shave your pet, please remember not to shave them all. You can leave an inch or half an inch of hair, and try not to expose the skin, which is very easy to get sunburned.

If you are trying to keep your pets cooler in the summer, comb them more. Smooth hair can maintain good air circulation and have a certain cooling effect. On the contrary, matted hair blocks air circulation, does not help the body cool down, but increases the risk of skin infection.

I hope everyone will spread this little knowledge and don’t make it self-defeating and harm your little pet.
