Canis mite infection

The canine mite parasitizes in the stratum corneum of the skin and feeds on tissue fluid. Its entire life cycle is completed on the host, and transmission occurs through direct contact. The mites cause mild itching, and there are yellow-gray scales on the dog's back, buttocks, head and nose, which fall off when the dog exercises. There are also cases of Taenia canis but no symptoms. The mite can infect humans.

Prevention and treatment methods:

During treatment, the skin should be washed and scales removed, and corticosteroids can be used to relieve itching. Ivermectin, long-acting ivermectin, and most acaricides are effective against P. caninum infection.
