【Cause】

Mechanical damage: such as fighting and playing between animals;

Parasitic itch mites in the ears: Due to severe itching, they shake their heads and rub the affected ears, causing contusion of the auricles and rupture of blood vessels in the auricles.

【Symptoms】

After the hematoma is formed, the auricle becomes thickened several times, droops, and feels fluctuating and painful when pressed.

It often recurs after puncture and bloodletting. Multiple punctures may lead to infection and suppuration.

【Treatment】

If the ear hematoma is small, it generally does not require treatment until it is absorbed by itself. For larger ear hematomas, after puncture and bloodletting, an appropriate amount of cotton can be placed on the inside of the auricle and a compression ear bandage can be applied and kept for 7 to 10 days. If conservative treatment is ineffective, you can make a 1 to 1.5 cm long longitudinal incision on the side of the hematoma after disinfection to drain out the accumulated blood and clots, and then suture a number of scattered full-thickness auricular nodules parallel to the incision to eliminate the hematoma cavity. An ear bandage can be installed after surgery to apply appropriate pressure to stop bleeding and leakage.
