Dog's reaction to illness
Reactions of dogs when they are sick
1. Listlessness
The owner can check whether the dog is active and responds normally to the outside world. Is there any unusual demeanor? Healthy dogs are lively and agile, wagging their tails frequently when seeing their owners to show closeness, and are responsive to external stimuli. If the dog's head is lowered, its tail is drooping, its expression is cold, it stands still or huddles in a corner, and it is slow to react, it is a sign that the dog is sick.
2. Loss of appetite
See whether the dog has appetite, how much food it eats, and whether it is picky or resistant to food. Healthy dogs have a strong appetite. They are excited when eating, eat quickly, steadily, and are not picky eaters. Sick dogs have a loss of appetite, reduced food intake, like to drink cold or clear water, and are picky eaters or refuse to eat.
3. Vomiting
See whether the dog vomits after eating, or whether vomit is found when cleaning the dog's food. And pay attention to the color of the vomit and the contents. Healthy dogs do not vomit, only dogs with infectious or gastrointestinal diseases will vomit.
4. Abnormal stool
Observe the shape, color, nature and contents of the dog’s feces. Whether there is constipation and diarrhea, whether there is a special smell in the feces, etc. A healthy dog's stool is strip-shaped, moist, the color depends on the food, and has no special odor. If the dog's feces is thin and soft, has blood in the feces, has a foul smell, or is dry and hard with a small amount, etc., these are the characteristics of the dog's illness.
5. Abnormal posture
Observe whether the dog's posture is abnormal, such as standing, lying, sitting, lameness and other symptoms. Healthy dogs obey commands naturally, easily, and in all positions. However, sick dogs do not follow orders very well, their various postures are unnatural, and they have painful expressions when they enforce orders.
6. Eye abnormalities
Check whether the dog’s eyes are red and swollen, whether there are tears, whether the cornea is opaque, whether there is secretion from the corners of the eyes, etc. Healthy dogs have bright eyes, clean eye areas, no tears, and pink conjunctiva. If you see dull eyes, unclean eyes, red conjunctiva, etc., it may be related to eye disease or indigestion.
