Methods for weaning puppies:

1. Separate the mother dog from the puppies. It is best to separate the puppy from its mother when it is almost 1 month old and prepare for weaning, but the process should be gradual.

2. Weaning puppies that are thin and weak should be weaned later. Puppies may become polarized as soon as they are born, some are extremely strong, while others are thin and poorly developed. For relatively thin puppies, the weaning time should be delayed so that they can grow and develop well under the protection of their mother before being weaned.

3. Use transitional food to wean puppies step by step. Puppies in the weaning period can gradually eat a little liquid food. Don’t let your puppy eat all mushy dog food all of a sudden. Maximum once or twice a day to allow the puppy to slowly adapt to the change of food.

Precautions for weaning puppies:

1. Take care of weak dogs. When your dog is nursing, you should intentionally place the weak dog on the nipple with sufficient milk.

2. Strengthen nutritional supply. After 25 days of birth, dog babies will have a particularly strong appetite. At this time, breast milk alone can no longer satisfy their appetite. They need to be fed some supplementary foods such as milk, rice soup, gruel, and a small amount of fish meal, Nutrients such as cod liver oil and bone meal provide them with enhanced nutrition.

3. Artificial auxiliary feeding. One and a half months after the baby dog is born, it must gradually switch to artificial feeding, usually 3 to 4 times a day, supplemented by breastfeeding to meet the needs of the baby dog's growth and development. The dog can be weaned after nursing for 50 to 60 days.
