In order to avoid the inconvenience caused by some emergencies occurring at night or far away from the animal hospital, it is necessary for dog-raising families to prepare a common medicine box. However, some puppies may be allergic to certain drugs, and there are also questions about the usage and dosage of various drugs. You must consult a reliable veterinarian in advance.

1. Surgical first aid

Hydrogen peroxide: If it is a general skin injury, you can use it to clean the wound first.

Yunnan Baiyao: If the puppy bleeds, just apply the powder on the wound. If there is excessive bleeding, the puppy can be given some.

Anti-inflammatory powder (sulfonamide crystal): a commonly used and effective anti-inflammatory drug for wounds. After applying it to the surface of the wound, it should be bandaged to prevent licking.

Purple potion: Used during the growth period of wound skin.

Erythromycin ointment: It can be used during the wound recovery period and can also be used when puppies suffer from purulent skin diseases.

If possible, you should also prepare some popsicle sticks. If your puppy unfortunately suffers a fracture, light, thin and flexible popsicle sticks will come into play at this time. Because although the puppy is injured, its lively and active personality can easily aggravate the injury. At this time, parents can use popsicle sticks as splints to temporarily fix the fractured limbs. In this way, when the parents take the puppy to the hospital, the blood vessels, nerves, muscles and skin at the fracture site will not be easily damaged again.

2. Gastrointestinal medication

Multi-enzyme tablets, pepsin tablets, and multivitamins: These medicines are very helpful for puppies with indigestion and loss of appetite, and can effectively regulate the gastrointestinal function of puppies.

Gentamicin tablets: Some parents will be extremely anxious about the vomiting and diarrhea caused by indigestion in their puppies. This medicine can play an important role when their puppies have diarrhea.

Metoclopramide tablets: If the puppy vomits, parents can give them metoclopramide tablets to stop vomiting.

Development Bao: Usually giving dogs some tonics that can regulate gastrointestinal function can also prevent dogs from diarrhea.

Special reminder: If your dog has severe vomiting or diarrhea, you should see a doctor in time to avoid delaying treatment.

3. Special medication

Chloramphenicol eye drops: an essential drug for the eyes, which can treat conjunctivitis and keratitis. Because it is cheap, you can use it to rinse your eyes even if you don't have eye diseases to keep your eyes clean. This is especially important for dog breeds such as Jingba and Myna with large and protruding eyes.

Vitamin E: The pet dog that has been with the family for many years is gradually approaching its twilight years, so how can parents maintain the youth of the pet dog and delay its aging? It is necessary to prepare some vitamins in the small medicine boxE. Giving your dog some food regularly will keep it “young forever”.

Glycerin suppository: When your dog is constipated, it is a very effective medicine to squeeze into the anus.

Chlorhexidine solution: If your dog is a male, you may find that there is always greenish gray-white pus coming out of the foreskin. This is inflammation of the foreskin cavity. Frequent flushing with chlorhexidine solution can help it get rid of its troubles.

Phenobarbital: Puppies suffering from epilepsy will have seizures every once in a while. Taking this medicine before the seizure will effectively control the condition.

When traveling with your dog, you can prepare some sedatives for dogs with a history of motion sickness. Commonly used ones include diazepam, chlorpropate, etc. Because sedatives will interfere with the dog's heat regulation ability, if you are stuck in a hot car after taking them, you may suffer from heat stroke, and in severe cases, death. Therefore, you must open the windows or air conditioner to keep the car cool, and you must consult your veterinarian for the dosage.
