Methods to keep your dog warm

1. Wear some warm clothes for your dog. Dog clothing can help keep dogs warm through the winter, especially small or toy breeds, dogs without thick coats, and older or sick dogs. Dogs behave the same way as we do when they are cold, that is, they shiver. Dog jackets, sweater sleeve blankets, you can buy them directly or make them yourself.

2. If the temperature is low, you must turn on the air conditioner or heating if possible to maintain a suitable indoor temperature.

3. Make sure the dog house is warm and clean. Bedding and mats are important items to keep your dog warm during the winter. If your dog sleeps on the ground or floor, use blankets and old clothes to make a warm bed for him. Older dogs with arthritis may consider using a heated dog bed. At the same time, don’t forget to clean and change your dog’s bedding when the weather is sunny to reduce fleas and bacteria.

4. Dogs should not be bathed too frequently in winter. Frequent bathing will only destroy the dog's hair tissue. Usually, you only need to wash it two to three times a month. In addition, you should pay attention to the water temperature when bathing your dog, and it should not be too low. Or too high, it is recommended to be around 38 degrees. In addition, if the puppy takes a bath immediately after exercising, there is a 50% possibility of catching a cold. It must rest for 40 minutes before washing.

5. Do not cut your dog’s hair during this season. Thick dog hair is the most effective measure to insulate against the cold. And if your dog’s hair is trimmed and styled excessively in order to look good during this season, it can easily cause your dog to catch a cold.

6. Avoid overfeeding. Although dogs love to eat, and eating is very important during the cold season to keep the dog energy and warm; indoor dogs do not need extra food. This can lead to excessive obesity in dogs.
