Reward methods for dogs

1. Food rewards

Food rewards are the most commonly used reward methods when training dogs. But the food cannot be very large, or something the dog doesn’t like to eat. The food should be small and easy to carry, and the portion does not need to be too much. Just reward a little each time, so as to encourage the dog to train hard in order to obtain more rewards.

2. Caress and reward

If there is no food around for a while, the owner’s caress can also satisfy the dog. For example, when the dog behaves well, the owner squats down and strokes its head, tickles its neck or scratches its ears, which will let the dog know that it behaves well and this is the right behavior.

3. Toy rewards

When the dog behaves well, toys can also be used as a reward. The owner can give the dog toys and let it play for a while, or play with it for a while, and the dog will be quite happy. The most important thing about this kind of reward method is not to mix the toys used as rewards with the toys your dog usually plays with.

4. Take it out to play

Dogs like to go out and play very much. Many office workers do not have much time to play with them because they are too busy at work. They will feel particularly lonely. In this case, the pet owner can take it out to play as a reward.

5. Pat the reward

This reward is particularly effective for dogs that have been trained. When the dog completes a training, or obeys your words, it helps you do it. If you do certain things and take certain actions, everyone can use this reward.

6. Verbal praise

You can use a word specifically to praise your dog. For example, when the dog does something very good, the pet owner can say to it words such as great, great, you did a great job, etc. At the beginning, the dog doesn't quite understand what you mean, but as the training time gets longer and longer, it becomes more and more able to understand what this time means.
