1. Nutritional management

Signs of pregnancy will appear about a week after the dog mates. Dogs may experience vomiting, loss of appetite and other reactions within three to four weeks of pregnancy. Proper nutritional management is critical to pet health at this time, and the diet must be formulated to ensure the animal's basic physiological needs such as energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

2. Pre-pregnancy preparation

During pregnancy, you should actively conduct pregnancy tests and establish good contact with the animal hospital. If some emergencies occur, you can contact the hospital in time to handle them. . In addition, you can also take an X-ray about ten days before delivery to see if there are any problems such as fetal malposition, deformity, etc. If there are these conditions, it is best to go to the hospital to give birth.

3. Production environment preparation

Keep the production environment hygienic, clean, spacious and warm. In the few hours before giving birth, your pet will usually urinate frequently, retching several times, walking back and forth, unable to stop, not wanting to eat, scratching its nest, etc. At this time, you need to pay more attention.

4. Clinical manifestations

When a pet starts to exert force or has colored secretions (usually dark green) flowing out, this is a sign of imminent delivery. Under normal circumstances, the birth will be over in about an hour. In the end, the pet will lick off the outer membrane and bite off the umbilical cord. If it is a novice, the owner will need to use sterilized scissors to help cut it.

5. No bathing

Taking a bath after giving birth can easily lead to a cold in female dogs with low immunity, and may also lead to wound infection. Therefore, we need to be careful not to bathe the female dog within 30 days after giving birth.

6. Regular deworming

Female dogs need to nurse and have more contact with puppies after giving birth, so if they are not dewormed regularly, it is easy to cause mutual infection. Therefore, we need to pay special attention to regular deworming of female dogs. Dog bedding and other daily necessities should also be frequently changed and exposed to the sun to keep the environment tidy and clean.
