Generally speaking, it is best for cats to be neutered when they are 6-8 months old, because at that time many cats have not yet come into heat for the first time, which is the so-called sexual maturity. Female cats are generally neutered earlier than male cats, but both must be neutered during their first heat. The best time to neuter female cats is 5-8 months, while the best time to neuter male cats is 7-10 months.

Precautions for cat sterilization:

1. The day before cat sterilization, thoroughly disinfect the home, but do not disinfect the cat toilet. Give the cat a bath with warm water 2 days before the operation, fast from 10 hours before the operation, and stop water from 4 hours before the operation.

2. Prepare two small blankets, one to put in the box, and a bottle of chloramphenicol eye drops. Eye drops should be given to the cat from time to time after the operation.

3. Cat sterilization surgery should be performed at least after the first vaccination, preferably two weeks after all vaccinations are completed. Making sure the immunity is fully effective before going to the hospital for surgery can effectively reduce disease infection and contagion.

4. You can only eat and drink within the prescribed time after surgery. It will take a while after the sterilization operation to drink water and eat. Generally, it takes about 4 hours for male cats and about 6 hours for female cats. It can be extended appropriately according to the actual situation.

5. As long as topical medicine is applied, the Elizabethan ring must be worn until the wound has healed. After neutering, both male and female cats must wear Elizabethan rings, but the length of time they wear them varies.
