1. Observe the injured part of the dog to see if it has deformation, bone dislocation, bending, breakage, etc.

2. Observe the dog’s daily status, whether there will be any abnormality or lameness when walking, and whether there will be slight bone friction and swelling when the fracture site is over-exercised.

3. When a dog suffers a fracture, it will lose its appetite and may even fall ill and have a fever.

How to deal with a dog’s fracture:

1. If the dog has a fracture and the injury bleeds. Clean the wound first, then wrap a bandage over the wound to stop the bleeding, apply iodine to the wound, and spread iodoform-sulfonamide powder into the wound.

2. You can simply bandage and fix the dog’s fractured area first, and then send it to the hospital for treatment. Do not move the dog casually during the treatment to avoid displacement of the broken end or serious complications.

3. During the recovery period of a fracture, it is best not to let the dog exercise. You can feed the dog some anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and bone injury medicine. Appropriate exercise can be done after 3 to 4 weeks, and bandages and splints can generally be removed after 40 to 60 days.
