Methods to reduce fever in dogs

1. Physical fever reduction

Under normal circumstances, the dog’s body temperature is between 38.5-39°C. If the dog's body temperature does not exceed this temperature, you can use a towel dipped in alcohol and repeatedly wipe the dog's abdomen, foot pads, groin and other parts with less hair to help cool down. You can also use ice packs, but be careful not to frostbite the dog.

2. Drugs to reduce fever

If the dog’s body temperature greatly exceeds the normal temperature range, you can feed antipyretics: commonly used antipyretics for dogs include metamizole, aspirin, Aminopyrine and other drugs. If these pet-specific drugs are not available, Sanjiu Ganmao Ling and Xiao Bupleurum Granules can also be used.

3. Replenish water

After the dog has a fever, give the dog more water after it is willing to drink water. If the dog is unwilling to drink water, you can use a syringe to give it. However, be careful not to choke the dog, so that the dog can lose some of its heat through urination.

Causes of dog fever
