Dogs with pancreatitis should not drink water. Pancreatitis requires fasting and water deprivation. The main issue with pancreatitis in dogs is the secretion of the pancreas. Once a dog suffers from pancreatitis and then feeds water, it will cause pancreatic secretion and aggravate the dog’s pancreatic pain. Owners need to pay more attention to the problem of pancreatitis in dogs and send them to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

Causes of pancreatitis in dogs:

1. Improper diet. Overeating and sudden changes in food are the main causes, causing the pancreas to overload.

2. Obesity. Long-term feeding of high-fat food can induce acute pancreatitis in dogs.

3. Hyperlipidemia. When the blood lipid mechanism is damaged, such as hypothyroidism and diabetes, pancreatitis can occur.

4. Bile duct disease. Inflammation of the bile duct spreads to the pancreas, causing pancreatitis.

5. Infectious diseases. If your dog suffers from an infectious disease, pancreatitis will become one of the complications.

6. Duodenal fluid reflux. When dogs vomit, intestinal blockage allows duodenal fluid or bile to flow back into the pancreatic duct and pancreatic interstitium.

7. Variety. Dog breeds such as Miniature Schnauzers, Miniature Poodles, Cocker Spaniels, and Dachshunds are more likely to gain weight and indirectly induce pancreatitis.

8. Age. As dogs enter old age, their body functions will gradually decline, making them more likely to suffer from pancreatitis.
